Our Favourite Restaurants

British Food Fortnight starts on the 22nd of September. We thought to celebrate we'd ask the B&H team for their favourite restaurants in London. Surprisingly, there's not much overlap!

LORENZA - MARKETING & EVENTS INTERN

I really like Mercato Metropolitano, they have a large variety of food and drinks.

Padella as well, it is a small sweet pasta restaurant.

RENEE - BOOKINGS & EVENTS

Artusi in Peckham, everything is always amazing, but their pasta is some of the best I've ever had.  Wildflower in Peckham Levels, take your meat loving friends there and blow them away with how amazing food can be without meat. Or just take people there who like great food. I'm not veggie but this is a new fave of mine.

ANTHONY - HEAD CHEF

One of my favourite restaurant is Wan Chai Corner right under the gate of China Town. This place is nothing to look at, however my wife and in-laws originate from Hong Kong and it is somewhere in the heart of London where you can still get some traditional Chinese food, as long as you are willing to order off the menu. Maybe not for everyone (or the faint-hearted!) but some great dishes if you are feeling adventurous (chickens feet)!

MEGAN - HEAD OF MARKETING

I can’t choose one (!?) so have highlighted the best for every occasion!

Santore on Exmouth Market for my pizza/pasta fix. My dad and I go here every Monday and we often frequent on a Friday for team pizza.

Fez Mangal in Notting Hill for the best mezze and kebab. You can bring your own wine and the food is a steal. You may even spot Hugh Grant or Boris Johnson picking up a takeaway.

Ottolenghi on Upper Street. Always and everything.

Fish! in Borough Market for my seafood obsession. On market days they stand outside and serve prawns, freshly grilled and in a wrap. Heaven.

Spaniards Inn in Hampstead for the ultimate roast dinner after a long blustery walk on the heath. Not sure if the roast is actually the best in London, but this pub is something special.

NIKOLA - PA TO MANAGING DIRECTOR

Paolina in Kings Cross Road. Its a Thai cafe which is just delicious. It's owned by a little old Thai couple who make the food themselves I believe and it's in a little old Italian cafe which they have never really changed so looks really retro. And best of all its really cheap!!

STEPHANIE - VENUE MARKETING MANAGER

I go a lot to Gokyuzu on Green Lanes, it's great and every Turkish person I’ve met  has confirmed that this is the best one in London.

Le-Sacre-Coeur.jpg

JOEL - BOOKINGS MANAGER

Does Nando's count (only joking). I would say my favourite two London restaurants are firstly Lemonia which is in Primrose Hill. A family run Greek restaurant that has a fantastic food selection (the meze is legendary) and the ambiance has a really lovely family feel. My 2nd favourite would be Le Sacre Coeur which is a little French restaurant just off upper street. The food is exceptional and very well priced. It makes you like you're eating fine French cuisine off a little side street in Paris somewhere. Magic.

BETH - CREATIVE MANAGER

Flat Iron for whenever I'm craving steak on a budget

José - best rustic tapas place

Boys 'n' Berry - just for their GRILLED BANANA TOAST

Palm Vaults - for their cake and cool smoothies!

ALEX - SALES MANAGER

10 Greek Street -  small Soho joint with daily menu and some outstanding wine and friendly service.

JIM - GROUP BARS MANAGER

My favourites are generally individual dishes, usually with a certain type of booze...

Jalapeño poppers and Chicharonnes (fried crisp Mexican pork-belly) at the bar at Pacifico on Langley st with an ice-cold Modelo Especial and a glass of something distilled from agave.

Any form of  Creole-inspired chicken at any time at Stillwater bar in Tooting. There's a chicken-fried boudin burger. Yes.

The ham sandwich / Ploughman's at Gordon's Wine bar by Embankment. There's a reason they've been there for 400 years.
